So where are we going again?

I always find it important to get a spatial view of where we're going. So here's a map of the trip.  (The blue dotted line plots the trip).  After a couple of days in Bangkok we head to Phnom Penh.  That's where we have a day of orientation and visit the Killing Fields.  This is a compulsory part of the trip in preparation for being in the village, and I know it's going to be hard going.  I regularly find it difficult to come to terms with man's inhumanity to man.

The market at Tbeang Meanchey
After gathering supplies for our lunches and exploring parts of the capital, we travel the 4-6 hours to Tbeang Meanchey for the building project. The project is being conducted in one of the villages outside of the town.  The pics here are from Flickr and show the place from a couple of angles.

To market, to market…. good ute cage
Once we bid our farewells after the building work, we head East into the hills where we'll visit the gem markets and see whether the Museum(s) can find some treasure.

Although all of the trip will be an adventure, the remaining part is leisure - looking for the freshwater dolphins in the Mekong and exploring the various temples, or "wats" around Siem Reip.  The lake nearby is a giant gouge in the Earth created by a meteor, so of course that will be a point of interest too!  Some of the remnants of that impact have been deposited here in Southern Victoria, as it happens.

Another day in Bangkok sees us begin the venture back to Macedon.

So that's where we're going.  We will take you along with us to the best of our ability.
