And they're off!!

And here we are in the lounge in Sydney.  The bags are booked through to Bangkok.  Finally finished with packing, emptying fridges, wiping benches etc at midnight.  The alarm went at 4, and for those who know me, you’ll know just how much I enjoyed that.  Getting up anytime before 5 is waking up yesterday.
Trev’s off at Granny & Grandad’s, Maggie’s gone to the ‘resort’ and the chooks are being beautifully babysat.

We left the house at 10 to 5 in the darkness before dawn with our packs as light as we could make them.  I actually managed to get away with 12 kg – not at all bad!  At this point, I think it’s mainly the Uno cards that we’ve forgotten. Shame, really.
We’re all pretty zonked, but managed unscathed through passport control & customs – we even smooth-talked our way to a real, live, stamp in the passport.  Through the onslaught of sales, and lights, and treble-y music, and dings, and dongs, and the drums that accompanied the Chinese dragon and now waiting for our boarding call.  This world is one where even though everything happens at a time, it’s unclear what time of day it is.  Sitting.  Waiting.  Standing.  Waiting.  This side of the security screening is quite surreal.
I think now, finally, we’re prepared for Bangkok!
