So we’re in the late stages of
preparation…. we’re getting ready. This weekend we shopped for some of the
essentials, deodorant, sunscreen, shorts, leather gloves, nail bags – just the
usual. The folded stacks of ‘potentially
to take’ clothes are building, and the pile of medical, bathroom, gear, and
other stuff is going to need serious whittling.
None of it will go into the packs until Thursday, but it will be ready
to be.

Some of the essentials from yesterday's shopping spree |
This is going to be an extremely busy week. All of us are working up until Thursday
evening so we’ll need to be on our game – we leave for the airport at 4:50 on
Friday morning – ouch!
Our first stop will be in Bangkok. There are elections there on Feb 2nd,
and people are showing strong emotions in the streets in the lead-up. The travel advisories are telling us to avoid
some of the central parts of the city, but that’s all. Paula has been there a number of times so it
will be a real treat to have an experienced guide to the city.

Our commemorative T-shirts. Can't wait to see them in the flesh! |
We haven’t quite broken the news to Maggie
– she won’t be in the least happy about her 30-minute car ride and being left
in the kennels. Even if the place does
refer to itself as a pet resort. Someone
will have to pay on the other side…. and it could be all of us! I'm not sure if we should tell her that Trevor is going
to Granny & Grandad’s.
And so, the excitement builds…..
